For example, if a player puts $5 on the pass line, and a $5 odds bet, and the point is 10 and is made, the player wins $5 for the pass line bet and $10 for the odds bet. Given the odds that are paid on the odds bet, you should bet as little as possible on the pass line - put the big money on the odds bet behind it. (top)

Come Bets
Come bets and don't come bets work the same way the pass line and don't pass bar bets work. The only difference is that the come bets are made after a point has been established. For example, if the shooter rolls a six for his point, a come bet can then be made. The next roll becomes the point for the come bet. If a 7 or 11 is rolled, the come bet wins (if the don't come bet was made, it loses here). If a 2, 3, or 12 is rolled, the come bet loses (if the don't come bet was made, it wins here). If anything else is rolled, it is the "side point". This point must be rolled again before a seven for it to win. Otherwise, it loses. Odds can be bet on the come bets just like the pass line bets. Sucker Bets
There is a field bet that pays even money if a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 is rolled and pays 2 to 1 if a 12 is rolled (some casinos pay 3 to 1). This may seem like a good bet, but it is not.

As mentioned before, Big 6 and Big 8 are the worst bets on the table and should never be bet. This is because you can make the exact same bet but get paid more when you win (place bets on the six and eight).

One roll bets made that a certain number will be rolled on the NEXT ROLL. Odds are paid and may seem good (double sixes pay 30 to 1), but the odds are totally against you here. Any craps are other bets to stay away from - you are betting that the next roll is a crap roll (2, 3, 7, or 12). As a rule of thumb, if the bet is in the middle of the table, stay away from it. The best bets to make are listed in the strategy section. (top)

Strategy
A good strategy to follow in craps is one that stays away from the sucker bets. The way to get the best odds is to place the smallest bet allowed on the pass line bet. Once the point is rolled, put odds on this bet (maybe twice as much as the pass line bet). Next, put a come bet out. If you win or lose the come bet, put another one out there. Continue until a new point is rolled. Once this new point is rolled, put odds on the come bet. Stop here if you want to be conservative. If you want to go a little deeper, put another come bet out. Always have two come bets working (both with odds bets). Finally, if you are doing well and want to get a little risky, put place bets on the six and/or eight. Even though the other place bets pay better odds, they are harder to roll and you should therefore stay away from them.

Odds Bets
Odds bets are the best bets one can make on the craps table. Maybe that's why this bet isn't even shown on the table layout. An odds bet is a bet placed behind your pass line bet or don't bass bar bet. It works the same as a pass line or don't pass bar bet with one exception - it pays odds whereas the pass line and don't pass bar bets pay even money. The odds are listed below:

Hard Way Bet
Odds
2s
9 to 1
3s
7 to 1
4s
7 to 1
5s
9 to 1

For example, if a place bet is made on the nine, a nine must be rolled before a seven. If you bet $10 on the nine place bet and a nine is rolled, you win $14. If a seven is rolled first, you lose your $10.

There is a bet on the table called the Big 6 and Big 8. These bets are the same as placing a place bet on the six or eight except they do not pay odds. Therefore, NEVER BET THE BIG 6 OR BIG 8. (top)

Hard Ways
There are other bets a player can make called the hard way bets. These are simply doubles (both die roll the same number). A player can put money on certain hard way combination and get paid different odds depending on which one is bet on. The player wins if the hard way is rolled before a seven or the number in non-double form is rolled. Otherwise, the hard way bet is lost. The payouts are listed below:

Basics
Craps is a game with some of the best odds for the player. It is played with two dice and and table with spaces to make many different bets. The table is surrounded by walls for players to throw the dice against from the opposite end. The game of craps begins when a shooter (player who rolls the dice) places a pass bet. Once the shooter places a line bet, the dice are given to him to roll. Everyone else at the table can either bet "with the shooter" or "against the shooter". Betting with the shooter is betting the pass line and betting against the shooter is betting the don't pass bar. Only the shooter is required to make this bet. All other players have the option of making a pass bet, and they can bet on other things instead if they wish (or both). This is also not the only bet the shooter can make - he can make several other bets as well. If you choose not to roll, you can still play craps - you would just place your bets while others are rolling the dice.

When the shooter rolls the dice for the first time, it is known as the come out roll. The players can win or lose at this point. During the come out roll, players that bet the pass line win if any of the following are rolled:
Seven (7)
Eleven (11)
Players who bet the don't pass bar lose.

During the come out roll, players that bet the pass line lose if any of the following are rolled (also known as crapping out):
Two (2)
Three (3)
Twelve (12)
Players who bet the don't pass bar win.

If anything else is rolled, the number is known as the point, and the shooter must roll the point again before he rolls a seven to win. Once a seven is rolled, the pass line bettors lose, the don't pass bar bettors win, and the dice are passed to the next player and a new come out roll is on the way.

Once the point has been established, many different bets can be made on the rolls in which the shooter is trying to roll the point. Remember, the shooter continues to roll until he rolls the point (winner) or a seven (loser). The types of bets that will be discussed are as follows:

Place Bets

Place bets are bets that can be put on the four, five, six, eight, nine, or ten. Placing one of these bets means that you think this number will be rolled before a seven is rolled. If the point is rolled before a seven, your place bet is still safe. Most casinos will "turn off" your place bet on the next come out roll though. If you don't want it to be turned off, you can let the dealer know and it will be "live". If a place bet is won, odds are paid as shown below:
